How to book Matheran Toy Train, Online and Offline?
Matheran is one of the most visited hill station by Mumbaikars and ever since the toy train re-started, more and more people are traveling to this vehicle free hill station.

Matheran Toy train online booking
At the time of writing this post, there was no online facility available for booking matheran toy train. This is mostly due to the limited seats available in the toy train.
At a given point of time, only certain number of tickets are issued in the offline mode as well. Hopefully, railways will find out a way to make this online via UTS app.

Matheran Toy Train Ticket booking
Presently you can book Matheran Toy train ticket in Offline mode only. Recently Central Railways introduced a facility where you can book Neral to Matheran Toy Train Tickets in advance to avoid disappointment on the day of travel.
How to book Matheran Toy Train Ticket in Advance?
Starting 24th Feb 2023, Central Railways have introduced AC Saloon Coach in Toy train starting from Neral to Matheran.
Do not confuse this with AC Vistadome coach. Vistadome coach tickets are available for individuals as well but this AC Saloon coach is available only for group bookings and in case no one books it, this coach will not be attached to the toy train!.
You can book this full coach (8 seater) luxary coach 7 days in advance. To book this coach, you can approach either Neral or any nearby CR booking office and make the booking by paying 20% advance.
How to book Neral to Matheran toy train ticket?
If you are not looking for the luxry saloon AC coach, the only way to book toy train ticket is on the spot. Keep in mind, the ticket counter opens 30minutes in advance and its stopped once the all the seats fill in the toy train.
During weekends, its pretty difficult to get toy train ticket from Nearl unless you arrive very early at Neral station and stand in queue for hours.
Matheran Toy Train Timings From Neral and Aman lodge & back
A better way is to take a cab from outside Neral station and reach Dasturi Naka (Aman lodge station). From Dasturi Naka, you can either trek or take toy train. The process is same as for ticket booking from Neral but here you got a better chance of getting a seat as frequency is more and many people opt to trek or take horse ride till Matheran.

What is the cost of toy train in Matheran?
The cost of ticket for Matheran toy train is as follows:
AC Coach: Available only between Neral to Matheran is Rs:415/-
1st class: Cost is same for adults is Rs.300, Kids Rs.180/-
2nd class: Cost is Rs.75/- and Rs.45/- for adults and kids. Between Aman lodge and Matheran its Rs.45/- and Rs.30/- respectively.
Conclusion:
With local train, ur-reserved and station tickets going online, hope Matheran toy train will also go online. It will make travelers plan better but since a good alternative of cab is availalbe it may not be a bottelneck.
