What is Alibaug?
Alibaug is a beach near Mumbai. The seashore city is named Alibaug and the beach in the city is Alibaug beach.
It has many water sports, horse rides, camel rides, beach bike rides etc.
Note: You may at times hear people saying “Alibaug se Aaya he kya?“. This become famous due to movies or some other events. It means they feel your comments or actions are that of a naive person. So check what you just did without taking any offense.
How to reach AlibaugBeach?
There are two ways to reach AlibaugBeach, get a ferry/boat from Gateway of India (it’s around 1hr ride) or by road (its a 3-4 hrs ride).
To reach Gateway Of India, get Mumbai local train ticket Online or from the counter. Once you reach CSMT or Churchgate, you will find a mini AC bus from just outside CST, Churchgate station towards Gateway. The ticket is Rs.6 only!
You can also take a taxi (kali peeli) from the station or other bus that will drop you at Regal Theater. From Regal bus stop, its 5minute walk to the Gateway.
From Gateway of India, boat service will cost you around Rs.200-250 per person. You can buy the ticket from the Tourist center opposite the Gateway Of India.
The ferry will drop you at Mandava, and from there you take a bus to AlibaugCity (included in the boat fare). The beach is further ahead (1.5km), you can get an auto for Rs.30/- to the beach from Mandava.
Note: There are 3 boat service providers:
- Apollo & Ajanta: These are economical non ac boats & cost is around Rs.160/. Maximum people take this option hence boat and connecting bus is croweded.
- PNP: This is a AC boat, will cost you around Rs.220/-. The advantage is you will not find the boat and bus croweded & get the luxary feel.
- M2M Ferry: This is super luxury. You can take your 4 wheeler & 2 wheelers also in this boat! Cost is around Rs.300/ per person and Rs.1100/- for a mid size car. This service is from Bhau cha Dhakka (near Dockyard Road station). Tickets are available online only.
Best time to visit Alibaug
You can visit Alibaut beach any time of the year but I feel the best season to visit Alibaug is Nov to January. The weather is pretty pleasant during this time.
In other months it will be too hot and humid or too much rain will spoil your trip.

Alibaug beach and its activities can be easily covered in one day. You can start early and come back by evening.

Things to do in AlibaugBeach
Apart from enjoying the senic sun rise and sun set, you can do following activities on Alibaug beach:

- Take a dip in the sea

You can either make your Alibaug beach a picnic by carrying food and stuff or eat from the restaruants near the beach. Both Veg and Non-veg restaurants can be found nearby.

Alibaug is one of the better beached around Mumbai. The boat ride adds to its excitement. This is a good one day budget trip.
The rides available at beach are fun, there is good connectivity from and to the beach. All in all, a great one day outing with family and friends.
